Mon Ange

I didn't realize I hadn't sewn in so long. This is the doll, finished. I was in love with it, so I sent it to my grandmother in France to look after her. I miss them both so much.

My Grandmother Doll

My "grandmother doll". With my abundant amount of scrap fabric, and thirst to try something new, I set out to make a doll, not realizing what it would actually become.

The blue and white dress reminds me of her, the patterns, the colors. The "skin" reminds me of hers, old and splotchy. The hair will eventually be the same too, and I will probably end up giving this one blue eyes, along with the wings.

I miss my grandma. When she died I didn't get to officially say good bye, it's something that I deal with everyday, some days being worse than others. When she died, she didn't get funeral services, a memorial, a tombstone or resting place. She was cremated. I have no official place to mourn her.

Summer, my sister in law, suggested that I have a place in my house for her, with a picture and a candle I can light thinking of her. Upon making this doll, this angel, I was reminded of her time and time again. While it's not done, it's her. I feel something more, a peace and of course when I'm done, which won't take anything other than the actual work, there will be a picture.

My New Brother

My New Sewing Machine, My New Love

As I was saying, with the help of my dad and grandma I was able to replace the stupid mistakes I made with the other. The intent is to fix it when I get some money and pass it on to Olivia or if it's not fixable, sell or trade it.

This one has encouraged me to learn to do things right. The threading, the cleaning, the swapping of needles, the proper uses of stitches and what not. It's quite nice and I'm feeling motivated, happy and content. :)

This is my new machine. With this machine ( and an abundant amount of thread and material) the possibilities are endless.

First Article of Clothing

By first I mean first ever, and definitely Not the last! The fabric was a terrible choice but it turned out so beautifully.
My mother in law taught me to read patterns!

I made the dress first and then the crown... which also a pain in my patooty!

This is my Princess Peach Halloween Costume

This is my Princess Peach

This is the Princess and her daddy, who was a dog. I made those ears too, but they aren't as awesome!

Princess Peach, and Mario. I tailored his hat and overalls to fit the scene, he grew the mustache just for the occasion and we had a beautiful Halloween!

Angel Doll

This is a doll I made for my friend Monica for her birthday.
She really likes purple and I thought this would be neat to try. <3

A light at the end of the tunnel, or the middle

With my birthday arrived a check and a gift card which allowed me to get a new sewing machine! Hooooorah!

A dinosaur quilt with matching dinosaur currently in progress, working on the binding.

A princess dress and crown for Halloween, crown currently in progress  due to fraying.

A puppy quilt for my sister, appliqued and cut, just needs to be embroidered.

And, of course, the kids sea room.

I have came a Long way and learned soooo much, even with incomplete projects and I can't wait to share them with you (as soon as I get some decent pictures).

I also can't wait to make my daughter some more dresses and hopefully soon some matching vests for my son, maybe with a new job under the buckle I'll have some more money for patterns and material! I'm sooo looking forward to this, and sharing!

The Final Blow

My sewing machine has bit the dust. Maybe it needs a good cleaning, maybe I'm just an idiot. Maybe I just put something backwards. Either way, it's not sewing, at least not for me and not any time soon. My heart aches.

I was just starting to feel good and inspired when we landed ourselves homeless and once realizing it wasn't so temporary I got my sewing machine out. And once I started making progress, it dies. Just like everything else in my life, taking a hit at the final stretch.

I have material enough for Thanksgiving and Christmas place mats, Tristan's dog quilt, Logan's pirate quilt, Olivia's mermaid quilt, a scrap quilt, monsters etc. This is literally tearing me up. Ugh.

Tristan's mom is supposed to dig out one of her old Singer's and I've only used a Brother, plus this thing has like 50yrs on me I'm sure so wish me luck. It'd be nice if I could use it in the mean time, my fingers are itching to create.
